Back to School Campaign!

Term 3, Week 2, 2014

This week the Travelwise team kicked off the term by doing the 'Back to School Campaign' to ensure students and their families are travelling safely home from school. It is great to see so many students walking to and from school!

Longford Street is still our biggest concern as it very congested after school during 2.45 - 3.00pm when parents are picking up their students SO,

To park up on BEAN STREET & KEATE PLACE! We guarantee you NO traffic, plenty of parking and no beeping horns!

Thanks for travelling safely to school - The Travelwise team

Maxx the Pukeko!

Week 3, Term 2, 2014

This week we had a special visitor at school...
Maxx the Pukeko!
He made a special appearance at our school assembly and was very funny but made important points about road safety when our Travelwise team interviewed him. He agreed with these actions:

  • Cross at the kea crossing
  • Don't walk through the carpark
  • Parents need to park at Bean & Keate Place, not Longford Street
  • Walk to school
Maxx was a bit shy at first

Welcome back to TERM TWO!

Week 2, Term 2, 2014

Welcome back to another busy term at SPS!
Our main focus throughout the year and this term is to ensure that our students are travelling safer and smarter to and from school and that the main roads surrounding our school are not busy or congested!

We have a new kea crossing on Hamlin Road that have trained road patrols at the crossing with a staff member to help students cross and travel home safely.
It is important that all students who use Hamlin Road cross at the kea crossing and not at the end of the road near the Mt Wellington highway - it is very dangerous!

Here is an AMETI Project Update...
